Today marks a significant milestone in the field of suicidology: the 10 year anniversary of CAMS-care! As the Official Training Company of the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), we’re celebrating a decade of reducing suffering and saving lives through proven effective care.
We invite you to explore ten remarkable patient success stories* that showcase the transformative power of CAMS.
Please note that CAMS-care is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards to ensure patient anonymity and confidentiality. While each story is loosely based on actual events, all details, including names, genders, ages, races, geographic locations, and more, have been fictionalized to protect the people who inspired them.
Each story illustrates the unwavering dedication of CAMS Trained™ clinicians and the unmatched resilience of their patients. There’s “Mary,” who through CAMS, experienced the power of purpose as she found a way to channel the pain from losing her son into something good. There’s also “Chris,” who after serving in the Army, experienced the power of empathy with CAMS as he felt seen and understood for the first time in his life.
There are countless other success stories like these, of which you’re an integral part. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in this journey. Please join us, as together we commemorate a decade of innovation, compassion, and impact, and launch the next decade of saving lives through effective care!

A Brief History of CAMS-care
Originally developed under the visionary leadership of Dr. David Jobes over forty years ago, CAMS is a clinical philosophy of care that revolutionized the way clinicians approach and treat suicidal risk by putting the patient at the center of clinical care.
The effectiveness of the CAMS Framework® has been recognized and supported by dozens of publications worldwide as a proven suicide-focused treatment, including eleven open clinical trials, seven published randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and two meta-analyses. CAMS is also referenced in the Zero Suicide Toolkit and has been successfully integrated into many Zero Suicide initiatives in the United States and abroad.
Finally, it has evolved to better meet the diverse needs of individuals across various demographics and clinical settings, including CAMS-4Teens®.
A Decade of Milestones
CAMS-care began as a team of one to provide consultation and training to clinicians utilizing CAMS. Now, with over 25 incredible staff and consultants, we’re a leading organization helping clinicians effectively treat suicidal patients by building confidence, enhancing communication, and improving patient outcomes using evidence-based suicide-focused treatment.
As we reflect on the past decade, we’re especially proud of the following accomplishments:
- 40,000 mental health clinicians worldwide have been trained
- 1,200 clinicians have earned their CAMS Trained™ designation
- Of the 1,200 CAMS Trained™ clinicians hundreds have opted into the CAMS Locator
- Hundreds of thousands of patients have been treated within the CAMS Framework®
