Saving Lives through Evidence-Based Care: KVC’s Guide to Implementing CAMS with Private Donations

Chad Anderson and Megan Moore from KVC Health Systems, a national leader in mental health and child welfare transformation, have successfully implemented evidence-based, suicide focused treatment into their systems of care. In this webinar they will share the steps taken, the implementation science to build the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality into their daily work for people with serious thoughts of suicide as well as some of the ways they funded this work through grants from private individuals and local employers as alternatives to government funding.

About J. Megan Moore DSW, CSW, MSW

With over 25 years working in public and private behavioral healthcare and child welfare organizations, Dr. Moore brings proven leadership skills in talent development, program operations, strategic planning, and successful implementation of innovative solutions to complex challenges facing contemporary society. Currently, Dr. Moore serves as the Senior Director of Innovation and Impact for KVC Kentucky. In her role, Dr. Moore oversees KVC Kentucky’s Multi-Systemic Therapy program, community engagement and philanthropic efforts, as well as development and implementation of the agencies internal and external training program, compliance with Federal and State contracts, and oversight of KVC Kentucky’s Joint Commission Accreditation.

Dr. Moore has worked as part of the KVC Kentucky leadership team over the past 14 years to develop and implement many agency-wide initiatives to maintain KVC Kentucky’s commitment to high quality services for Kentucky’s most vulnerable children and families. Dr. Moore works with state and national leaders to implement evidence-based treatment and innovative family strengthening programming across the Commonwealth. Dr. Moore is incredibly proud of the work of KVC Kentucky’s dedicated, passionate and highly-skilled practitioners as they come alongside individuals and families in crisis and is proud to be part of an organization that is innovative in its approach to solving “big systems” problems through collaborative partnerships using best practice interventions.

Dr. Moore is the proud recipient of the 2015 Commerce Lexington Distinguished Leader Award, but is most proud to be the mother of a smart, kind, talented, fierce 19-year-old daughter, Naomi, who inspires her to keep going every day.

About Chad Anderson, Chief Clinical Officer, KVC Health Systems, LSCSW

Chad Anderson is Chief Clinical Officer of KVC Health Systems where he oversees all clinical behavioral healthcare services the organization provides to children and families. He also manages government relations, and provides leadership for the KVC Institute for Health Systems Innovation which uses neuroscience, technology and evidence-based practices to transform the experience of childhood for all children. He is passionate about prevention, both as it relates to mental health and preventing suicide, and to child welfare and safely preventing the need for foster care.

Chad began working for KVC as a residential therapist and intake social worker in 1999. Over the last 25 years, he has served in many roles including Clinical Treatment Supervisor, Lead Clinician for In-Home Evaluations and Treatment, Permanency Director, Director of Outpatient Clinical Services for KVC Kansas, Director of Clinical Services for Camber Mental Health (previously KVC Hospitals), Vice President of Clinical Services for KVC Kansas, and ultimately President of KVC Kansas. In that role, he led a team of over 700 people building a child welfare system that is safe, secure and stable. He also ensured the services were family-centered, connected to the community and focused by evidence-based practices.

Chad received his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and his master’s in social work with a specialization in mental health from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Mariam-Gregorian, PhD

About Mariam Gregorian, Psychologist Ph.D

Dr. Mariam Gregorian is a CAMS Consultant who received her PhD from Catholic University. She is an expert in the adherent use of the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality and has published research on this approach.
Mariam advises organizations on training for their systems of care and best practices in the implementation of CAMS as an evidence-based, suicide-focused treatment.
